The Eye Examination

A regular examination is important,not only to determine the prescription to give you the best vision possible,but to check for any optical health problems.We have modern computerised equipment to check eye pressures and visual fields.An enhanced eye examination is offered where,by using a digital fundus camera,a very detailed photograph of the retina can be taken.This gives a photographic record of any anomalies caused by conditions like diabetes,macular degeneration etc.The optometrist can then compare any changes to the eyes at each examination.

We allow half an hour for a routine eye test,so an hour should be allowed for your visit to allow for spectacle frame selection and dispensing.

Many people are entitled to free NHS examinations.

These include;

Patients over the age of 60 years old

Children up to the age of 19 if in full time education

patients diagnosed with diabetes or glaucoma

Immediate family history of glaucoma and over 40 years of age

Registered partially sighted

Certain state benefits will also give free eye test entitlement,and help towards spectacle costs.This includes patients in receipt of;

Income support

Tax credit

Income based job seekers allowance

universal credit

Pension credit guarantee credit

please contact us for more information regarding your entitlement.
